Our modern forms of organisation have produced a general material prosperity and a highly organised working life. But in return, human nature has been violated. In these forms of life, the human being is stripped of his individuality and destiny in favour of a flawless organisation and hence loses his humanity. Illness, death and love are experiences that increasingly find no place in this organised life and are eliminated just like art.

The first six articles in this issue attempt to explore the challenges posed by the technology we have created by ourselves and to point out possible ways of dealing with the increasingly technical world we live in. The contributions are accompanied, among other topics, by the artistic contrast of the powerful works of the sculptor Peter Goehlen as well as with three further contributions on art and an interview with the iron sculptress FEROSE.
