One of the most striking features of the Goetheanum and its adjoining buildings is its vivid, sculptural design. Polarities, transformation of form and metamorphosis play an important role here. Each of these buildings has a distinctly individual character, while at the same time there is an inner context, as if they had been developed from a common motif. This results in a special synthesis between individuality and togetherness. Especially in a time of individualization on the one hand and uniformity on the other, this is a valuable social gesture.
How can one recognize the design principles of these buildings, learn to understand them and apply them in one's own work? A key to their understanding is their emergence in the process of sculpting. That is why character and mutual relationship can be best understood through the process of sculpting.
We want to follow this practice path on two weekends under the direction of Christian Hitsch. As an artist and for many years head of the Visual Arts Section, Christian Hitsch has been involved with the Goetheanum and its surrounding buildings throughout his life and knows them like no other.
The course is designed as a unit, both weekends should preferably be booked together.

Friday, 11 February 2022 19:00 until Saturday, 12 February, 18:00
Friday, 18 March 2022 19:00 until Saturday, 19 March, 18:00
Place: Plasticizing room in the carpentry (Schreinerei) at the Goetheanum
Costs: CHF 300 for both weekends together, single CHF 200.
For students CHF 120.
