In June 2022 it will be 100 years since the painter and sculptor Henni Geck asked Rudolf Steiner for a painting course where objective laws of the spiritual could be learned. In response, Rudolf Steiner created nine motif sketches in pastel with the “Nature Moods”; others followed. The motifs are sunrise, sunset, various manifestations of the moon and trees in bloom and fruit. With the sketches on the moods of nature Rudolf Steiner pushes aside the curtain a little bit by proposing a view of nature that leads into the inside of it, exposes the working forces of nature and shows major cosmic rhythms.
Over the past 100 years, artists have worked with the sketches in very different ways. Some artists have kept close to the guidelines, others have understood them primarily as a meditative stimulus and developed free designs on it. In the exhibition we show artists from Europe and overseas who have worked with Rudolf Steiner's "Nature Moods" or with the theme of nature: Beppe Assenza, Fritz Billing, Charles Blockey, Jasminka Bogdanovic, Ingrid Boll, Fredy Buchwalder, Fiona Campbell, Caroline Chanter, Henni Geck, Doris Harpers, Katrin Hofmann Hurter, Elisa Muller, Bettina Roder Pröbstl, Walter Roggenkamp, Angèle Ruchti, Alexander Schaumann, Edgar Spittler, Peter Stebbing, Gabriela Stepp, Dorothea Templeton, Lillian Torjusson, Michael von Borstel, Gerard Wagner, Kate Walter, Stephane Zwahlen, and the nine original sketches by Rudolf Steiner.
