The Swiss artist Heikedine Günther will be presenting her latest series of works under the title Concentric Circles from June 25 to September 30, 2021 at Goetheanum Dornach. In the past few months, over 50 oil paintings and monotypes have been created, which emphasize that the standstill caused by the pandemic is also one of the artist's most productive creative periods.
With the main theme of the Concentric Circles, Heikedine Günther's works explore the inexhaustible interplay between microcosm and macrocosm and raise questions about the substance of things and the essence of painting itself. Building on a long tradition in art history, the artist examines the effective interplay of depth and perspective in color sequences and concentric circular constellations. In a concave-convex dialogue, her works induce immersion in contemplative color zones and illustrate their physical resonance on the viewer. Heikedine Günther uses the momentum from her own center in the painting process and makes the emotional value of the color visible on the canvas with broad brushes. The form never dictates the content, rather it is the occasion for individual horizons of association, which in their complexity correspond to the different layers of the works. Thus, Heikedine Günther's works invite to return to the essentials in a time characterized by challenges and change and to formulate new ways out of inner strength.
