Since time immemorial, color and form have been formative elements through which artists have attempted to convey an experience of the reality of the spirit. However, with the begin of the new age, where color and form were bound ever more closely to the sense – perceptible world, artists have lost this means of conveyance. Goethe’s phenomenological approach of viewing light, darkness and color as well as his discovery of the principle of metamorphosis, opened a new approach to their spiritual dimensions at the end of the 18th century.
Building upon Goethe, since 1907 Rudolf Steiner applied the principle of metamorphosis as well as a deepened color sensitivity to the arts and to architecture. Totally in concordance with the artistic avantgarde of the time, he freed color from the object and in a free flow of flooding colors he painted the cupula of the first Goetheanum. The building offered the possibility for the human being to experience his very essence in a lively and varied relationship to the macrocosm.
Through introductions and workshops we want to explore these mysteries in content as well as in artistic activity. Prior knowledge or artistic expertise is not necessary, only a lively interest in the theme and delight in artistic activity.
The conference will be held in German with Romanian and English translation. Some of the working groups are multilingual.
