Penmaenmawr and its surroundings with the impressive megalithic stone settings is the place Rudolf Steiner visited during a conference in August 1923 in the time between the burning of the first Goetheanum and the designing of the second building. Rudolf Steiner spoke about the special significance this place had for anthroposophical work in various lectures.
We are pleased to organize in partnership with the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain the Ascension Conference of the Visual Arts Section from May 18-21 in this special place as visual artists and art lovers: Observations of the landscape and stone settings; drawing on site; walks in the surroundings of the stone circles between the mountain and the sea; contributions to the megalithic culture and to the important meeting there 100 years ago. Exchange and conversations about the meaning of Penmaenmawr in our time, can help us develop a deeper understanding of the past and the future.
We look forward to discovering and exploring Penmaenmawr together and getting a little closer to its meaning and metamorphosis for contemporary artistic creation.
